Today, Hon Peter Mwarogo, County Executive Committee Member for Health, led the Department of Health, in conjunction with various partners and stakeholders, in commemorating World Tuberculosis Day through a lively ceremony held at the Alaskan Grounds in Malindi, Kilifi.
World Tuberculosis Day holds particular significance as it serves to raise awareness about tuberculosis (TB), a significant global health issue. The event served as a platform to educate the community on the causes, symptoms, and prevention strategies for TB, while advocating for improved access to diagnosis and treatment.
The event also highlighted the progress made in TB prevention and control efforts, while emphasizing the continued need for sustained commitment and action to eliminate TB as a public health threat in Kilifi. Such events work to garner support from partners and stakeholders, amplifying efforts to combat the TB epidemic.
Furthermore, in addition to screening activities, a blood donation initiative was launched. This initiative plays a crucial role in promoting public health, saving lives, and fostering a sense of communal responsibility and unity.
