Today, Hon. Peter Mwarogo, CECM Department of Health, was visited by a delegation from Operation Smile, consisting of Dr. Asaph Kinyanjui, Country Manager for Kenya, Faith Chebet, Program Manager, and James Mworia, Patient Coordinator.
Operation Smile, a volunteer-based charity organization, is dedicated to providing complimentary reconstructive surgery to individuals suffering from congenital cleft lip and/or palate.
Their visit seeks to establish potential partnerships concerning cleft care during their four-day trip to Coastal Kenya, engaging with several county governments, including Kilifi. This collaboration aims to make a difference in the lives of children and families affected by cleft lip and palate conditions in Kilifi County. Major contributions will involve providing surgical treatment, offering anesthesia training for medical personnel, and working alongside the Community Health Services for patient referrals and the provision of safe surgical treatment, nutritional support, and speech therapy.
The Department of Health is enthusiastic about such partnerships as it demonstrate the department’s dedication to enhancing the standard and availability of healthcare services for the residents of Kilifi County.
