The Kilifi County Department of Health, in collaboration with Scaling Up Nutrition Civil Society Alliance – Kenya (SUN CSA), organized a meeting to analyze the policy landscape with the goal of improving nutrition advocacy and strengthening nutrition-sensitive programming in the county.
Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN CSA) is a movement led by the country, aimed at eliminating malnutrition by 2030, with Kenya being one of the 61 member countries dedicated to this objective. SUN CSA focuses on strategic advocacy, policy engagement, and member coordination to promote better nutrition at every level.
Kilifi County has been struggling with high rates of stunting, with wasting among children under 5 years increasing from <5% to 6.2%. These nutrition challenges are worsened by ongoing drought, food insecurity, and inadequate infant feeding practices.
Given these issues, it is essential for the Kilifi County Department of Health to strategically unite efforts across all levels to tackle the malnutrition problem within the county.
