Our Chief Executive Committee Member (CECM), Hon Peter Mwarogo, along with Her Excellency Deputy governor, Hon Flora Mbetsa Chibule, convened to observe this year’s Menstrual Health and Hygiene Day at Kizurini Primary School in Kaloleni Sub County.
The event, held under the theme “Together For A Period Friendly Kilifi,” included the distribution of sanitary pads and an inter-gender football tournament.
The Kilifi County Government is currently in the process of developing a Menstrual Health and Hygiene policy with the objective of providing sanitary towels and educational programs on menstrual hygiene to adolescent girls. Our goal is to facilitate open discussions in safe spaces and offer support, including menstrual products, to young girls.
We urge all individuals to engage in dialogue on this issue and empower our women and girls to experience menstruation with dignity, devoid of shame or fear. A lack of awareness has resulted in young girls partaking in harmful activities that impede their future prospects.
