In order to enhance the quality and accessibility of maternal and child health and nutrition services in Kilifi County, I have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today with Helen Keller International, under the leadership of President and Executive Officer Sarah Bouchie and Chairman of the Board of Trustees Bill Toppeta.
The
Kilifi Department of Health and Sanitation Services in Kilifi has been engaged in a successful partnership with Helen Keller’s “Transforming Lives Through Nutrition” program since 2013, reaching 3.5 million children under the age of 5 with impactful nutrition interventions in Kilifi County.
This initiative prioritizes the continuum of care during the first 1000 days of life by implementing high-impact nutritional interventions such as promoting the uptake of Iron and folic acid supplements, early initiation of breastfeeding, exclusive breastfeeding, appropriate complementary feeding, Vitamin A supplementation, Dewormers, and enhancing the quality of maternal and newborn health services through capacity building and strengthening of health systems.
