Discussions were conducted with a team of senior associates in litigation from Kenya Legal and Ethical Issues Network on HIV and AIDS (KELIN) Kenya, under the leadership of their Program Coordinator, Creaw Isabella Mwangi, regarding the court petition concerning the Kilifi Maternal and Child Health Act 2016.
KELIN had previously identified and characterized various aspects of the Kilifi County Maternal and Child Health Act of 2016 as unconstitutional and in violation of the law.
However, the Department of Health and Sanitation is currently in the process of reviewing the Act, and within a span of 4 months, all the unconstitutional sections of the Act will be repealed to introduce an amended Act.
