The Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee at Kilifi County Referral Hospital, led by AMS chair and physician, Dr. Nadia Aliyan, collaborates with Oxford University Hospital through the Commonwealth Partnerships for Antimicrobial Stewardship (CwPAMS) grant, funded by the UK aid Fleming Fund. This impactful global health partnership endeavors to combat antimicrobial resistance (AMR) by implementing protocols, evidence-based practices, and bolstering antimicrobial surveillance capacity within Kilifi.
Effectively addressing AMR necessitates a comprehensive strategy encompassing both hospital practices and community behaviors towards antibiotic use. This approach is crucial in combating the pervasive issue of antimicrobial resistance in Kilifi.
