Health Education and Promotion
We are dedicated to enhancing community well-being through comprehensive health education and promotion. Our initiatives are designed to empower residents with knowledge and resources that foster healthier lifestyles and improve public health outcomes.
Key Initiatives:
Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion: We are committed to ensuring that every household has access to proper sanitation facilities. Our ongoing efforts, guided by the County Sanitation and Hygiene Roadmap, include the implementation of Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) approaches in Kaloleni and Malindi Sub-Counties. With support from USAID and UNICEF under the KSEEP Phase II, we aim to achieve Open Defecation Free (ODF) status in all villages, contributing to a cleaner and healthier environment.
Healthcare Worker Training: In partnership with Thumbay University, we have facilitated specialized training for our healthcare workers. This initiative includes courses in hospital management, emergency and critical care, and oncology. By equipping our medical professionals with advanced skills and knowledge, we enhance the quality of care provided to our community.
Continuous Support and Monitoring: Regular monitoring and mentorship are crucial for project success. Our team, led by Dr. Hassan Leli, actively supports hygiene promotion and household follow-up activities. This includes tracking progress in eliminating open defecation and promoting hand hygiene, ensuring that our sanitation initiatives are effectively implemented and maintained.
Team Building for Healthcare Workers: Recognizing the importance of teamwork in healthcare, we organize team-building exercises for our nurses. These activities focus on improving communication, trust, and collaboration, which are essential for delivering high-quality patient care and handling the demands of high-stress environments.
Community Outreach Programs
1. Kenya Sanitation Enabling Environment Project (KSEEP)
Our commitment to sanitation and hygiene is demonstrated through the KSEEP initiative. We are actively working towards eliminating open defecation by encouraging communities to build and use latrines and practice proper handwashing. Utilizing the Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) approach, we engage with villages to foster a culture of cleanliness and improve public health.
2. Health Education and Promotion Initiatives
Community Health Workers (CHWs) Programs: CHWs are pivotal in delivering essential health education, preventive measures, and basic healthcare services directly within communities.
Public Health Campaigns: We regularly conduct campaigns to educate residents on disease prevention, nutrition, and healthy living, often in collaboration with local leaders and organizations.
3. Maternal and Child Health Programs
Vaccination Drives: Our vaccination campaigns ensure high coverage rates for children and pregnant women, safeguarding them against preventable diseases.
Nutrition and Growth Monitoring: We focus on improving maternal and child nutrition through regular monitoring and educational programs.
4. HIV/AIDS Awareness and Support
HIV Testing and Counseling: Community-based testing and counseling services are offered to increase awareness and support for those living with HIV.
Support Groups: We facilitate support groups to provide emotional and social support for individuals affected by HIV/AIDS and their families.
5. Mental Health Awareness
Mental Health Education
Our programs aim to raise awareness about mental health issues, reduce stigma, and offer support and counseling services to those in need.
6. Environmental Health Initiatives
Clean-Up Campaigns
We organize community clean-up events to promote environmental hygiene and minimize the risk of disease transmission.
