World AIDS Day

Company
The Kilifi Department of Health celebrated World AIDS Day at Mapimo Vocational Training Centre in Gongoni Ward, Magarini Sub-county. This annual event holds great significance for the department as it serves as a crucial reminder of the global fight against HIV/AIDS and reinforces our commitment to combating this prevalent health challenge within our community.
Under the theme “Let Communities Lead,” led by H.E. Flora Chibule, Deputy Governor of Kilifi County, we came together to recognize the collective strength and resilience of communities as primary stakeholders in the frontline battle against HIV/AIDS. This day also serves as a tribute to those affected and highlights our unwavering dedication to prevention, treatment, and support for individuals living with HIV/AIDS.
The activities featured during this World AIDS Day event aimed to educate, raise awareness, and provide support, while also celebrating a reduction in prevalence from 3.5% in 2021 to 2.8% in 2023.
These activities showcased the Department of Health’s commitment to ensuring a healthier and more informed community. By addressing misconceptions, fostering inclusivity, and promoting testing and treatment, the Kilifi Department of Health continues to play a vital role in reducing the impact of HIV/AIDS and working towards a future free from the burden of this disease.
In attendance were Dr. Ruth Masha, CECM Gender, Social Services, Youth, and Sport, along with Agnetta Karembo, Chief Officer for Gender, Culture, and Social Services.
