Maternal & Perinatal morbidity

Company
In an orchestrated effort to address the elevated rates of maternal and perinatal morbidity in Kilifi County, the Kilifi Department of Health, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and partner organization Helen Keller, organized a three-day workshop with the goal of addressing the issue that not only jeopardizes the health of mothers and infants but also hinders progress towards achieving sustainable development goals.
To expedite efforts in Eradicating Preventable Maternal Mortality (EPMM) and implementing the Every Newborn Action Plan (ENAP), the department acknowledged the importance of obstetric and perinatal care standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Under the leadership of Professor Anne Kihara, President of The International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO), the workshop brought together healthcare professionals from various specialties to review the draft SOPs, with the aim of standardizing care to enhance health outcomes for mothers and children.
By emphasizing standardized care and evidence-based interventions, stakeholders have taken a crucial step towards safeguarding the health and well-being of mothers and newborns, thereby laying the groundwork for a healthier future for Kilifi County.
