The Kilifi County Referral Hospital, in partnership with KEMRI-IBAMI, organized a three-day sensitization meeting for healthcare workers focusing on the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI).
The aim was to support healthcare workers, including nurses, clinical officers, and nutritionists from the KCRH Maternity Newborn Unit and MCH. This initiative responds to WHO and UNICEF recommendations advocating for exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life, with continued breastfeeding for up to two years and beyond, to ensure newborns have the healthiest start.
The effort aligns with WHO/UNICEF joint statements promoting breastfeeding and enhancing maternity practices.
KCRH expresses gratitude to KEMRI-IBAMI for their support in sensitizing healthcare workers, as part of the commitment to elevate healthcare standards for the community.
