Today marked the beginning of a 5-day initiative led by the Department of Health, under the division of Health Products and Technologies, with support from USAID Afya Ugavi. This initiative will encompass all facilities within the seven sub-counties.
Teams, each assigned to a sub-county, will be responsible for visiting two facilities daily throughout the duration of this exercise. Their mission is to oversee the management and utilization of Health Products and Technologies (HPTs), which includes procurement, and use of various health-related products such as medicines, laboratory supplies, nutrition commodities, vaccines, and public health chemicals.
The main goal of this initiative is to ensure that all facilities are in compliance with regulatory standards and are following best practices. Supervisors will be key in optimizing performance and reducing the risks of malfunction or failure. They will also provide guidance and mentorship to healthcare workers to improve the overall quality of care.
Ultimately, the focus of these supervisory activities is to maintain high patient care standards and elevate the quality of healthcare services provided to the residents of Kilifi.
